From: "Daniel Upton" danupto-@blueridge.net Subject: RE: [tgo-l] (fwd) CENSUS WHAT IS REQUIRED ?!?! Date: Sat, 11 Mar 2000 19:07:17 -0500 The only thing required by the constitution is how many people are living in your house. This head count is so that the legislature can be apportioned. You don't have to give them anything else, especially your race or income. If the clause states "Enumeration".........It calls for the number in a household.......nothing more. On the Social Security Card issue.......the card I carry states "For Social Security and Tax Purposes - NOT for Identification....issued by Department of Health, Education and Welfare . This begs a question.......since it is stated NOT to be identification by an entity of the Federal Government the SSN cannot be used to designate an individual? Poof........can't be used to track a taxpayer either! Viper ******************8 From: bobwor-@aol.com Subject: Census - More Fraud On The Amerikans From: Clarence H Napier rranger-@flash.net From: Norm Olson normolso-@northlink.net To All: The government will be sending census questionaires to citizens. The government says we need to answer all the questions. The government says that by answering the questions our life will be better. The government says that good citizens comply with the law. The government says that bad citizens will be fined. Here's a letter I sent to the newspaper editor today: EVERYONE RECEIVING THIS EMAILING MAY USE THIS LETTER AS THEIR OWN TO SEND TO THEIR LOCAL NEWSPAPERS. Letter to the Editor: By now we've all seen the Census Bureau's deceptive ad campaign showing school children packed into broom closets. The ads promise that good and obedient citizens who answer all their questions can avoid these sad consequences. Does the Census Bureau really think that Americans are so gullible? Americans need to be on guard. The census is for the SOLE purpose of determining population size for congressional apportionment. The Constitution is clear in this regard. Our representative form of government provides that We The People effect change by participation in government. Feeding private and personal information to the census taker with the expectation that such information will circumvent representative government is tantamount to feeding and encouraging totalitarianism. It should be our representatives in government who ask us questions, not door-knocking novices hired by a federal agency! Don't help drive the wedge between the people and the tax-collecting government. The Census Bureau promotes further alienation from rather than participation in government. Help preserve representative government by NOT answering unconstitutional questions. By refusing to answer unconstitutional questions on the census, you uphold the need for representatives to talk directly to the people, thus promoting participatory government. Citizens ought to know that government employees must provide detailed information about how census data is used, agencies it will be released to, how long it will be kept, etc. Under the Privacy Act of 1974, one need not divulge personal and/or private information without full disclosure. Finally, since the Census Bureau has warned that noncompliance is a criminal offense, census takers must also explain the citizens protection under the Fifth Amendment as well as read the citizen the "Miranda Rights." It is your Constitutional right to be secure in your person. Questions being asked by the Census Bureau are none of their business. Support representative government by refusing to answer more than what is required by the Constitution.
