The New Quarterly GALILEO Password Became Effective September 12, 2000. If you are a user of GALILEO, Georgia's statewide virtual library and information utility, you need to know that a new quarterly password is now required. To obtain a new quarterly password, follow the steps below. 1. Go to the local public library website 2. Click on the blue text which reads "Search GALILEO and the Web" 3. Click on the blue rectangle which reads "From home or office ... GALILEO" 4. Click on the blue text which reads "Get the GALILEO password online: just enter your library card number" 5. Click in the empty box under the text "What is your barcode:" and enter the lengthy number which appears beneath the barcode on your public library card. Enter the digits in one continuous string, without any spaces or punctuation. Then, click on the gray bar which reads "Submit Barcode and Retrieve Password" 6. If your public library card is in good standing (i.e., no unpaid overdue fines or loss charges), the new password will appear at the top of the next screen display. Write it down for future reference. Then, click on the text which reads "Write down password and click to connect to GALILEO" This password can also be used when going directly to the GALILEO website If your public library card is not in good standing, you will not be able to obtain the new GALILEO password online. You will have to make a visit to your public library branch and bring your account up-to-date. NOTE: GALILEO core databases are open to all Georgia citizens holding public library cards in good standing. This information can be shared with staff, colleagues, co-workers, family members, and friends. The next quarterly GALILEO password change will occur in mid-December, 2000. You will be notified.
